On October 19th ITV DVD will release a number of classics on Blu-ray for the first time:
All digitally remastered in high definition, these timeless classics feature some of the greatest British and American acting talent to ever grace the silver screen and are presented in their most pristine glory ever for fans and a new generation to enjoy."
The 39 Steps
This was the first Hitchcock film based upon the idea of an innocent man on the run and received critical acclaim when adapted from John Buchan’s novel in 1935. The story is currently experiencing a revival at London’s Criterion Theatre which Time Out described as ‘gold standard comedy’.
While sitting in a London theatre watching a dazzling performance from Mr. Memory, Richard Hannay, played by Robert Donat and the rest of the audience flee after hearing a gun shot. Hannay, an innocent engineer, gets caught up in a web of intrigue when he encounters a female spy. Fascinated by her terror he agrees that she can accompany him to his apartment but later that night she is murdered. Fearing he could be accused of the girl’s murder Hannay goes on the run to prove his innocence and find the real killer with the assistance of a beautiful woman called Pamela played by Madeleine Carroll.
The Blu-ray is also packed with special features including The Thirty Nine Steps feature commentary, the Lux Radio Show audio feature, an art of film/video feature, on Location material and two photo galleries.
All Quiet On The Western Front
World War I anti-war classic ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT features an all-star cast including Ernest Borgnine, Ian Holm, Donald Pleasance and Richard Thomas.
This is the devastating story of a generation destroyed, following the lives of Germany schoolboys goaled by their schoolmaster to join the ‘glorious’ war. Their disenchantment begins with brutal basic training and when they see the crippled casualties being rushed to hospital as they board a train to the front-line they have their first glimpse of the grim-visaged reality of war. Based on a novel written by Erich Maria Remarque, this acclaimed film won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Made for TV. 2009 marks the 30th Anniversary of the films release.
Hamlet
One of Laurence Olivier’s masterpieces and the capturing of a defining moment of his career, hailed as the greatest performance of Hamlet on stage and screen. The film also stars Jean Simmons as Ophelia, Patrick Troughton and Peter Cushing. Having gained widespread popularity in film, Olivier tried his hand at directing and created three highly successful films including HAMLET and HENRY V. Olivier’s definitive version of the Bard’s tragedy won 11 awards including 4 Oscars and was the first British film to pick up the coveted Best Picture honour.
Other actors to make the role their own on stage recently include another Doctor Who; David Tenant and Jude Law whose production has just transferred to Broadway.
Henry V
Based on one of the most popular historical plays by Shakespeare and made to boost moral of British troops during World War II, HENRY V tells the story of this King of England and the epic Battle of Agincourt. Devised, directed by and starring Laurence Olivier, this film includes some of most impressive technicolour battle sequences in film, making it a must see. 2009 is the 65th Anniversary of this historically important and glorious film that was nominated for five Academy Awards.
The Blu-ray release also includes some fantastic extras such as the Henry V feature commentary, the trailer and three photo galleries which include black and white, original colour and HD comparison images, actor’s portraits and promotional material.

On October 19th Universal will release The Last House On The Left:
"The Collingwood family arrived at their summer lake house ready for a relaxing, tranquil holiday. With plans to sail on the lake and spend quality time together, it looked set to be a summer to remember but would soon become one they’d wish they could forget.
On the night they arrive their daughter Mari (Sara Paxton) visits her friend Paige (Martha MacIsaac) in the local town. They are introduced to Justin (Spencer Treat Clark) who convinces them to come back to the hotel he is staying at. Later that evening Justin’s father Krug (Garret Dillahunt) unexpectedly arrives. With the help of two menacing accomplices Sadie (Riki Lindhome) and Francis (Aaron Paul) he has escaped from police custody and, having brutally murdered two police officers, they are now fugitives on the run. The girls hear the story on the news and know who they are so they refuse to let them go for fear they will call the police.
After kidnapping and ruthlessly assaulting the two teen girls, leaving them both for dead, the gang unknowingly find shelter from a storm at the Collingwood residence, the one place Mari thinks she will be safe. John and Emma are unaware of their daughter’s predicament and invite the gang to stay for the evening, thinking they are an average family seeking refuge from the storm. Justin is terrified of his father and realizes the only way to escape is to make the Collingwoods aware of the events that took place earlier that day. Before he gets the chance their daughter arrives at the house bloody and struggling for her life. When her family learns the horrifying story, they will make these strangers curse the day they came to The Last House on the Left…"

On November 23rd Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release Fight Club - 10th Anniversary Edition:
"Based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk (Choke), Fight Club is a pitch-black comedy that follows a ticking-time-bomb insomniac (Edward Norton; The Incredible Hulk) seeking an escape from his mundane existence and white-collar job in American society. Finding solace only in feigning terminal illness and attending support groups, he meets the feisty chain-smoking vixen Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter; Terminator: Salvation; Harry Potter films) who immediately gets under his skin with her unconventional outlook on life. Upon returning from a business trip, he stumbles upon a more intriguing character, the subversive soap salesman, Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt; Mr. and Mrs. Smith). The two quickly become friends, bonding over a mutual disgust for corporate hypocrisy and find release in an eccentric, shocking new form of therapy – Fight Club. A brutal, bare-knuckle underground secret society run by the premise that men are only able to find freedom when they are willing to risk death, the club escalates to a whole other level, where the boxing matches and harmless pranks soon lead to an out-of-control spiral full of twists and turns towards oblivion and ironically, self-discovery.

The Fight Club: 10th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray is packed full of punches with all-new bonus materials including two interactive featurettes – 'A Hit In The Ear: Ren Klyce and the Sound Design of Fight Club' which allows users to remix four key scenes themselves with the help of Oscar-nominated sound designer Ren Klyce; and 'Insomniac Mode: I Am Jack’s Search Index' giving viewers the ability to access any part of the disc’s extensive bonus material via interactive tools."

On November 17th Paramount Home Entertainment will release Galaxy Quest:
"A team of intrepid adventurers travels through the outer reaches of the galaxy, each week finding excitement and adventure on Galaxy Quest! Or at least that's the way it was in the mid-1970s, when brave if reckless Captain Peter Quincy Taggart, lovely Lieutenant Tawny Madison, and inscrutable alien Dr. Lazarus were the leaders of an interstellar law enforcement team on the TV series of that name. Twenty years later, the show is still in reruns, and Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen), Gwen DeMarco (Sigourney Weaver), and Alexander Dane (Alan Rickman) prop up their sagging careers by making appearances at sci-fi conventions, where they grudgingly shake hands and give autographs for the show's socially inept following. However, it turns out that nerdy sci-fi fans aren't the only ones watching: somewhere in another solar system, a group of alien rebels living under a regime of violence and repression have picked up broadcasts of Galaxy Quest, and they aren't aware that it's fiction. They travel to Earth and encounter the Galaxy Quest cast, who figure that they're just another bunch of guys who like to dress funny. However, they soon realize that they're being hired not for another autograph-signing session but for a real-life outer space rescue mission."

"Oscar winner Russell Crowe leads an all-star cast in a blistering thriller about a rising congressman and an investigative journalist embroiled in an case of seemingly unrelated, brutal murders. "VIN DIESEL and PAUL WALKER head back to the mean streets of L.A., where they rejoin MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ and JORDANA BREWSTER to blast muscle, tuner and exotic cars along the crowded streets and across international lines.

When a tragic death brings him back to L.A., Dom reignites his feud with agent Brian O’Conner (Walker), as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, the notorious drug lord trafficking heroin across the US / Mexico border.

Infiltrating the underground network pushes these unlikely allies to the brink of their racing capabilities to earn a spot on a heist squad.
