Crikey! Anarchic television cartoon, Danger Mouse ran on ITV in the UK through most of the 1980s and into the 90s – 161 episodes in total. The cartoons centred around a mouse secret agent and his sidekick Penfold. Lines were voiced by David Jason and Terry Scott. Now, the cartoon has been updated and broadcast again.
Aired for the first time in years at 6 p.m. 28th September 2015 in re-vamped form, Danger mouse showed no sign of character change – destroying half of London in an episode 22 minutes long.

There’s been no penny-pinching this time around (was there before?). Big names have joined the voice cast, including Alexander Armstrong, Richard Osman, Miranda Richardson and – in the Christmas Special, Brian Blessed as Santa. Improved computer graphics have also been enlisted to add some zip to the updated version.
My British friend who loved the originals, had one major concern; would the theme tune be the same. Answer : yes – pretty much (bit of a change with the beat and harmonies but still very recognisable).
Phew!
All in all, it looks like the transition from old to new will be a smooth one.
